It’s a new year, and time for some new resolutions. I guess I could resolve to be nicer or to listen better when other people are talking, but it seems easier to resolve to raise thousands of dollars and build a web application, so I’ll do that instead. This is the year that the rubber has to hit the road; we have to get off the bench and into the game; we have to “fish or get out of the barrel” (as one professor of mine used to say) – I want to have an app to show for this year. It doesn’t have to be polished, it could be a working prototype, but it has to be recognizable as a scrapbooking app. Any activity that does not lead directly to an app will be considered suspect and liable for prosecution, or worse. To that end, the Limulus Systems goals for the year are:
App production.
- Complete write-ups of preliminary app specs for discussions with web designers and programmers.
- Get cost estimates for app development.
- Develop wireframes of web pages.
- Raise money from Kickstarter or other sources as needed.
- Decide on which web designers and programmers to use.
Branding.
- Decide on the product name.
- Get product domain name.
- Develop preliminary look and feel of the website.
Networking.
- Expand network of scrapbooker contacts.
- Connect with more digital scrapbooking kit designers to sign them on.
- Seek out independent web developers for App Production, Plan B – Partnering (I’m not putting all my programming eggs in one basket!)
These are some ambitious goals, many containing subtasks that will themselves take some real time and effort (Who’s gonna film that Kickstarter video?) However, what is man’s reach if not for the stars? I only hope that this list is not too naive, missing some major component necessary to produce an app. It could easily be; after all, this is my first time through a project like this, you know. If you think of anything missing, be sure to leave a comment.
